Students, make sure you get your Edmentum tests completed. You can make them up in the library or talk to your teachers. We are not letting students go to the game this Friday or the HOCO dance or HOCO game if they don't have their tests done.
First wave of voting for class attendants has been sent out. Please vote for up to 10 students. The form closes at the end of the school day Friday.
Do you have business attire clothing or old homecoming/prom clothing that you don’t wear anymore? The Royalty Rack would love to take donations!! The Royalty Rack has clothing for Homecoming or Prom, special event clothing, and more for both men and women for free at CHS!! Wed, Sept 25th, is Future Ready Night from 5 to 7 p.m. There will be a financial aid presentation and Representatives from Colleges/Universities, Military, Trade Schools, Unions, and Local Employers. See the QR code on the TVs to see who will be present.
Last night River Kings and Queens XC competed against twelve teams in the North Scott Invitational. Varsity girls placed 3rd missing 2nd by one point. The Queens were led by medalists Carryn Sattler 4th, Aubrey Rivers 5th, and Alli Haskell 9th, Sescie Haan, and Kirstin Bengtson rounded out the scoring for the broken medal finishers. Varsity boys competed 9th. The Kings were led by Ed Weiner, Kolton Lorion, CJ Estes, Zarek Haskell, and Anthony Sayson. JV Girls placed 5th and were led by medalist Avery Balog, Riley Reynolds Sophia Morley, Alexis Endreshak, Kaylee Davis, Chloe Ellis, and Brooklyn Cooley. JV Boys placed 5th were led by Jayden Krogmann, Cael Schwarz, David Peralta-Flores, Carter Dunham, Asher Dornbush, Jason Wheat, Logan Spooner, Johnny Gonzalez, and Jashaun Overstreet. Runners earned a PR last night: Estes, Schwarz, Wheat, Spooner, Rivers, Endreshak, and Davis. Shout out to Johnny Gonzalez and Jashaun Overstreet for running their first 5k race. Nice work Kings and Queens.
The JV boys golf team has been busy the last few days. Monday the Kings played at Springbrook and placed 3rd in a triangular with DeWitt and Assumption. Team medalist honors went to Nathan Frye. Also playing well for the Kings were Dalton Kohl and Reagan Steenhard. Yesterday the Kings were at Red Hawk in Davenport against Davenport West. Dalton Kohl was meet medalist scoring the best round out of all 12 players. Despite the low score by Kohl, the Kings unfortunately took 2nd place. Also scoring for the Kings were Dante Kelly, Lucas Clark, and Isaac Baker. Also playing in the meet were Owen Parker and Alex Katzenberger. The JV Boys are back at it tomorrow with a meet at Duck Creek Golf Course against Davenport Central.
On Monday, the Freshman volleyball team traveled to DeWitt. The Queens delivered and beat both Saber teams 25-22, 23-25, 15-8 and 25-11, 25-14. Great job freshman! Last night the Sophomore volleyball teams swept Davenport West in straight sets. After starting down by 10 points, the Queens controlled the rest of the match by posting a 25-22, 25-20, and 25-8 sweep of the Falcons. Congrats ladies on your 2nd MAC win! The varsity Queens hosted the Falcons for the varsity match and took care of business as they swept the visitor, 25-23, 25-21, 25-19. Joselyn Petersen led the charge offensively as she put away 7 kills and 6 aces. Olivia Glover dished out 11 assists. Vanessa Hensel and Haley Thomas ruled the back row as they each dug up 8 balls. The Queens varsity team hosts their Invitational on Saturday as they bring in 4 ranked teams and start play at 8:30am.
Your River Queen Swimmers took on the North Scott Lancers for the first time in MAC competition. The Queens rose to the occasion and defeated the Lady Lancers 88 to 68 Varsity and 28 to 0 JV. 1st places by Schroeder, Srp, Brisch, Cagle, and Perez. Thanks to all who came out to support and help time the meet. Next home meet is Tuesday Oct 1st against the Davenport Falcons. Don't forget if you need some volunteer hours you can come help time and receive 2 hours. GO QUEENS!!
